Everytime We Say Goodbye, I wonder why… a little

Last night I was cursing the bakery for scheduling me late on a Friday night. I had to see a passed out twenty-year old puke thrice in a row on the 2:45am 7 train.
Today I stayed two hours extra at work because I couldn't bare to leave.  The crowded, chaotic closet space that smells like chocolate cake on the first day of Winter Break; man-handling hundreds of cupcakes that will all be sold within the hour; swirling, twirling and plopping icing in colorful mounds and (patiently) bearing through customers' requests that question your kindness abilities- ALL OF IT!!!
My job as a trainer here left me excited and fulfilled.   Days of complaining hold no candle to my free treat payments and letters like this:

My trainee: Melissa! Tell me when you leave so I can say goodbye!
(6 o'clock rolls around and I'm finally outie. He appears with a box of Godiva chocolates and a Jeff Leedy card that reads: You're Leaving? Sh*t.)
I'm going to miss you Malissa,
Thank you for training me in the ways of
the bakery and for being a good friend.
I wish we could of spent more time together
but it seems I won’t see you for a while.
Congrats on going to bigger and better things.
Your Buddy, Nick
