First Day Onboard

Hello, Blog! Here begins our second cruise (or second opportunity to work on a cruise ship) as we get through our series of shows we’ll be performing, interesting food we’ll be consuming, rule following as crew members, and all the rest of Asian Invasion Vacation.

Life has been a ride in the fast lane ever since we left on Sunday night.  We flew 12 hours to Tokyo and transferred to Japan Airlines to fly for another 7 hours. An escort then greeted us, holding our names on a placard.  He guided us through customs and to the Singapore port at 7:00 AM Tuesday as we watched our ship pull in to port.  We spent the next two days filling out paperwork, going to drills, meetings and rehearsals and successfully put on our first show, Fabbalicious, in front of a full and energetic audience on Wednesday night.  Last night we were greeted by guests, many of whom we’ve met before on other cruises, who danced and chatted with us, as my feet felt they might light on fire with pain in my stiletto thigh high boots.  Of course, off to bed about 1 am, and strangely back up with mounds of energy at 7am this morning.  I guess I just had to write in my blog and share of the craziness which has happened so far.  Today will be a little smoother and easier.  We are in Thailand for the next few days.  Ivan has been before, about 9 years ago with The Dancers’ Company of BYU.  Pictures and videos will come later, for now I am just settling in and getting used to my bunk bed and moldy smell of my cabin.
